Irate Applebee’s customer gets arrested over ‘all-you-can-eat’ deal argument
A woman in Portage, Indiana, 28, got into a heated argument with someone during an evening at Applebee’s. The woman and her dining companions ordered the restaurant’s $15.99 “all-you-can-eat” special on August 2, which is when the incident started.
The arrest report states that the woman shared her food with the people at her table, which upset the restaurant’s management. A heated argument turned into a disturbance when the group refused to pay for two separate specials that they were given a bill for.
Following reports of screaming and threats, police were dispatched to the area. Officers discovered the group stirring up trouble with the restaurant manager and other customers when they arrived.
Looking over the menu, it was clear that the “all-you-can-eat” special was priced “per person.” This was a very clear requirement, but the group had broken the rules, which is what caused the conflict.
After the woman persisted in arguing with the officer and disobeyed his orders, she was taken into custody on a charge of disorderly conduct. Her friend eventually realized their interpretation of the menu was incorrect and paid the entire amount.
