Former porn star Ron Jeremy committed to mental hospital in California

(The AEGIS Alliance) – Ron Jeremy, a former pornographic actor, has been ordered to a mental health facility in California after a judge ruled that he was not capable of participating in his own trial due to the numerous allegations of sexual assault and misconduct against him.

Ron Jeremy, whose full name is Ron Jeremy Hyatt, can be confined in the mental health institution for a maximum period of two years, according to a statement from a spokesperson for the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office. On May 8th, there will be a re-examination hearing to assess Jeremy’s current state, who is 69 years old and formerly known as an adult entertainment performer, Reuters reported.

Since his arrest in 2020, Jeremy had been in prison.

Ron Jeremy pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against him which include 34 counts of sexual misconduct and 12 counts of rape. The accusations stem from incidents that took place in the Los Angeles region over a span of 23 years. Based on transcripts from the grand jury testimony of 21 supposed victims, with ages ranging from 15 to 51 years old, they claimed that Jeremy trapped them in a confined space and then committed sexual assaults against them.

In January, Judge Ronald Harris of the Superior Court determined that Jeremy would not stand trial before a jury and declared him to be mentally unfit. This ruling was based on Jeremy’s “irreparable neurocognitive decline,” which is unlikely to improve.

At the time of the ruling, Jeremy’s attorney Stuart Goldfarb stated, “When he was arrested two years ago, I said he would be found innocent of all charges.”

Goldfarb continued, “Two years have passed and with the additional discovery I received, I believed he would have been found innocent. It is unfortunate due to his mental condition he will not go to trial and have the opportunity to clear his name.”
