Chicago Man Facing Murder Charge for Beating Toddler to Death

(The AEGIS Alliance) – CHICAGO, ILLINOIS – 23-year-old Michael Robinson is facing a first-degree murder charge after a toddler only 23-months-old had been beaten to death on Tuesday.

The incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon on South Calumet Avenue’s 4200 blocks when Robinson allegedly punched the toddler in the face multiple times. The child’s death happened in the Bronzeville neighborhood at Robinson’s residence, The Chicago Tribune reported.

Police at the scene took Michael Robinson into custody. Police did not give information on Robinson’s relationship with the boy but said they are related.

The child was transported to Comer Children’s Hospital and at 12:41 p.m. he was pronounced dead.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office performed an autopsy and discovered the boy’s death was the result of multiple child abuse injuries, according to The Chicago Sun-Times. The death has been ruled a homicide.

Authorities with the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services said the family hadn’t previously been in contact with DCFS, but that there is currently an investigation into the toddler’s family.
