(The AEGIS Alliance) – WILMETTE, ILLINOIS – A former sheriff’s sergeant for Cook County who retired in November 2019 after serving since June 1993 is being charged with child sex abuse, possessing child pornography and other crimes where children were involved.
Investigators with the Wilmette Police Department were tipped off about the possible sexual abuse of a minor, 62-year-old John Pradun was arrested by detectives at his home in the morning on July 17 for sexually abusing a minor.
Detectives with the police discovered evidence that Pradun committed sexual offenses against two teenage girls in June. Pradun also showed a minor a naked digital photo of himself and was supplying drugs and alcohol to minors.
Search warrants were executed by police and they seized Alprazolam and Xanax, along with child pornography evidence that was stored on Pradun’s electronic device.
The charges Pradun is facing include two counts of aggravated child sex abuse, one count of grooming a child, one count of indecent solicitation of a child, possession of harmful material, possession of child pornography, and possession of a controlled substance.
The sex offenses were allegedly committed against two age 14 and 15-year-old girls, according to WGN.
Prosecutors are accusing Pradun of offering the female victims marijuana, alcohol, Xanax, and cigarettes at frequent parties at Pradun’s house with other girls, The Chicago Tribune reports.
Prosecutors say the girls who went to the parties knew John Pradun was retired law enforcement and they referred to him by the nickname “Po-Po.”
