A 28-year-old male confessed this week to sexually assaulting a 10-year-old female who became pregnant and journeyed outside of their state to terminate the pregnancy.
Records from the court in Franklin County, Ohio reveal that Gerson Fuentes admitted his guilt in two instances of sexual assault and received a life sentence in incarceration as punishment. The Indianapolis Star newspaper states that Fuentes has been mandated to endure a minimum of 25 years in prison, as per the agreement he reached with the district attorneys.
According to NBC News, during the proceeding, Judge Julie Lynch expressed that, “If that family hadn’t begged me to take this joint recommendation, this would never be happening.”
It’s reported the judge said a parole sentence was a “very hard pill for this Court to swallow.”
According to Fuentes’ indictment, the young girl was only nine years old when he sexually assaulted her on two occasions. A DNA examination indicated a 99.99% probability that Fuentes was the biological parent of the victim’s offspring.
As per the Indianapolis Star, Fuentes, originating from Colombia, might face deportation in case he is granted parole following a 25 years behind bars. Nonetheless, he is required to permanently enroll as a sex offender. It’s been reported that Fuentes was the boyfriend of the victim’s mom.
The child victim made her way to Indiana to abort the pregnancy since Ohio prohibited abortion after six weeks when the Supreme Court reversed Roe v. Wade during the previous summer. The incident was disclosed by The Indianapolis Star, stating that the girl was six weeks and three days pregnant.
