KY Teacher Arrested – Had Drunken Sex With 15 Year Old Former Student
(The AEGIS Alliance) – A teacher in Kentucky was arrested and has been accused of having sex with a 15 year old boy after providing the boy with alcohol last year.
40 year old Amy Hamilton turned herself in to police on Monday. She has been charged by the Harrison County Prosecutor with felony misconduct with a minor. Ms. Hamilton is currently a teacher in Oldham County, Kentucky, and also faces misdemeanor charges for contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
Charging documents were initially obtained by the Louisville Courier Journal. According to investigators, Hamilton first met the teenager during 2017 while she was working as a teacher at Stuart Pepper Middle School located in Meade County, Indiana.
According to the prosecutors office, she had not immediately gotten into a sexual relationship with the student while she was teaching. However, she kept in contact with the student using text messages after she took a new teaching job in Kentucky. The charging documents reveal that the relationship became sexual during March of 2018.
Police said that Hamilton gave the boy around nine beers while she drank several bottles of wine, reported WKYT.
Court documents reveal the student made sexual advanced earlier that day, but Hamilton had resisted. However, later that day she is alleged to have led the boy to her bedroom where they had sex, the documents show.
Her current school district was caught by surprise over these allegations.
A representative for Oldham County Schools was asked about the allegations, and told Wave 3 News, “This information is new to us, but we will take the appropriate actions to ensure the safety of our students.”
Online arrest records show that Hamilton posted the $5,000 bond and has been released. There is not an attorney authorized to speak on her behalf in the court records. Hamilton faces up to 12 years in prison if convicted of the felony charge.
Hamilton’s court appearance is scheduled on February 19 at 9 A.M. local time, and she is expected to enter a plea.
