(The AEGIS Alliance) – A man now dubbed at the “Cupid of Chaos” got arrested in Ohio and has been accused of being married to at least four different women in different states, according to authorities on Tuesday.
43 year old Michael Middleton is now held without bail at a Columbus jail. He is awaiting a hearing on Friday to be extradited to Maine, according to Franklin County Sheriff’s records.
Mr. Middleton has outstanding warrants in Maine for charges such as assault, domestic violence, and driving under the influence, said a Franklin County Sheriff’s spokesman, Marc Gofstein.
“I know there are multiple wives, I know of at least four and possibly a fifth,” Marc Gofstein said on Tuesday.
Middleton has been charged with bigamy in Strafford County, New Hampshire, back in January, said officials. He failed to appear at his arraignment there last Thursday.
Mr. Middleton got arrested in Columbus last Friday because of the Maine warrant after a tipster gave a call to sheriff’s dispatchers. The tipster informed officials about the man’s alleged multiple marriages and the location he was staying at in town, according to Marc Gofstein.
The tipster cited a Newsweek story specifically, about Middleton’s alleged trail of emptied bank accounts and broken hearts, said Gofstein.
“This ‘cupid of chaos’ is now awaiting extradition in our jail,” said the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department in a tweet:
Ashley Climer, age 25, is one of his alleged wives, she says her and Middleton got married in April of 2016 in Williamsburg, Kentucky, after meeting on Facebook a month prior, she told WCMH in an interview.
“It disgusts me, it hurts me,” she stated. “I don’t know how he could say he loved me and just lied to my face.”
