Two former Maine cops get jail time for killing porcupines with batons while on duty
(The AEGIS Alliance) – A couple of ex-Maine police officers got jail time for brutally beating porcupines with their police batons until they died while on the job.
31-year-old Michael Rolerson got sentenced to 270 days behind bars on Thursday that includes 20 days of time served and was fined $1,000, he also must complete community service, the Bangor Daily News reported.
28-year-old Addison Cox has been sentenced to 90 days behind bars that include 10 of time served, fined $1,000, he is also required to serve 6 months of probation, the channel pointed out.
The police officers both gave guilty pleas to charges consisting of animal cruelty and night hunting. The two had been terminated from their jobs with the Rockland Police Department in 2020.
A judge gave a harsher penalty to Michael Rolerson due to the fact that he was a senior police officer as well as for beating even more porcupines to death than Addison Cox.

Cox apparently said to authorities that he admired Rolerson and desired to follow his actions.
