Maine dad drowns attempting to save 12 and 13-year-old daughters from pond

A father in Maine tragically perished while attempting to rescue his two daughters who got carried away into the depths of a pond close to the shoreline on Saturday, according to authorities.

The Maine Warden Service said that 46-year-old Henry Brooks, from Hope, plunged into the pond after spotting his ages 12 and 13-year-old daughters being dragged towards the water’s depths at Union’s Seven Tree Pond.

At first, a daughter of Brooks’ had descended into a more profound section of the pond close to where it meets a nearby stream. Subsequently, his other child endeavored to rescue her, yet both were dragged into even further depths of the pond.

Brooks and his son, who is 27 years old, jumped in to save them. As per the warden service, only the son took hold of a life vest.

Brooks’ son succeeded in rescuing his siblings and transported them to a dock that was closeby. However, he was unable to locate his dad upon turning around.

Initial rescue responders and fish and game wardens combed the vicinity on foot and by watercraft.
