California Superior Court judge arrested after his wife is found shot to death

This week, authorities apprehended a 72-year-old judge from the Superior Court on allegations of murdering his wife.

As per a press statement by the Anaheim Police Department, on Thursday, August 4, a little after 8 p.m., law enforcement officers were dispatched to a residence on East Canyon Vista Drive in response to a shooting incident. Upon arrival, officers discovered Sheryl Ferguson within the house, having sustained a gunshot injury, and declared her deceased at the location.

Law enforcement authorities established communication with the husband of the victim, Jeffrey Ferguson, at their residence and apprehended him on allegations of committing the murderous act.

There is an ongoing investigation into the case.

According to KTLA-TV, the police also interviewed the Fergusons’ son, who is in his twenties and was present in the residence when the deadly gunfire occurred.

Ferguson has apparently been functioning as a judge in the Superior Court of Orange County since 2015. As per Fox LA, before this, Ferguson was employed by the Orange County District Attorney’s Office for over three decades as part of the Major Narcotics Enforcement Team. Moreover, he held the position of president at the North Orange County Bar Association from 2012 to 2014.

Ferguson remains detained in the Anaheim Police Department’s Detention Facility with a bail set at $1 million. There is an ongoing investigation into the case.
