(The AEGIS Alliance) – STEPHENSON COUNTY, ILLINOIS – A performer who impersonates former president Abraham Lincoln is charged with felonies for the alleged production of child pornography, according to local court records. The arrest on Friday comes after a six-month investigation.
63-year-old George Arthur Buss is also accused of engaging in prostitution. His arrest on Friday also included the arrest of a 22-year-old man who is accused of circulating child porn videos and prostitution. Details of the arrests and how the two cases are related have not been made clear.
Before Buss took to the road with his Lincoln act, he was a facilitator and educator for the Freeport School between 1981 and 2007. The Honest Abe lookalike had also been the vice president of equity for the local teachers union.
A website that promoted Buss’ services as an Abe Lincoln impersonator states he was willing to perform for children.
“From small-town elementary school classrooms to national stages, George Buss uses his vast resources to customize a perfect presentation for every audience,” the website wrote.
His resume included that he impersonated Lincoln throughout the state of Illinois, Washington D.C., and at Gettysburg, where the 16th president gave his landmark 1863 speech.
Illinois State Rep. Andrew Chesney expressed his contempt for the alleged activities of Buss.
“The crimes George Buss stands accused of are heinous,” Chesney said. “I denounce him in the strongest of terms. My thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families. May their voices be heard and may justice be quickly served.”
