CUMBERLAND, MARYLAND – A Northeast Elementary School Kindergarten teacher is facing criminal charges for child sex abuse against two female students, the Allegany County Combined Criminal Investigation Unit says.
A joint investigation led to the Friday arrest of a 36-year-old Lonaconing man by the name of Cole Derek Green. The investigation that started on November 12 was carried out by the Allegany County Board of Education and Child Protective Services.
At that time, Mr. Green was ordered by the Board of Education to be placed on administrative leave.
Investigators discovered that an adult witness, on two different occasions, saw Green put his hands underneath the clothes of two different female kindergarten students and touched them in a sexual manner.
On Friday, there was a hearing before a district court commissioner, and soon afterward Mr. Green was arrested and locked up in jail without bond. Mr Green is facing charges for each victim that include the sexual abuse of a minor, and fourth-degree sex offense by a person who’s in a position of authority, along with related charges.
Investigators say Child Protective Services interviewed all of the other students, and none of them disclosed that Green had touched them inappropriately.
According to authorities, Mr Green’s classroom and home were searched, and his electronic devices were seized, authorities will examine any evidence related to these allegations.
