Louisiana man to be castrated, sentenced to prison for raping and impregnating 14-year-old
A man aged 54 has been given a 50-year prison term and ordered to undergo castration for sexually assaulting and impregnating a 14-year-old girl.
On Monday, April 22, the announcement was made by Scott Perrilloux, the District Attorney for the Twenty-first Judicial District, that Glenn Sullivan Sr. was given a 50-year prison sentence and ordered to undergo physical castration by a judge. This decision came after Sullivan pleaded guilty to four charges of second-degree rape.
The inquiry was initiated in July of 2022 after a teenage girl informed detectives at the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office that Sullivan had allegedly sexually assaulted her multiple times when she was 14 years old. Prosecutors stated that the girl conceived a child as a result, and a genetic test confirmed that Sullivan was the biological father.
According to the prosecutor’s office, Sullivan was also accused of “grooming the victim” and intimidating the girl and her family to “stop the young lady from revealing the rape incidents.”
Perrilloux noted that, “So many of these types of cases go unreported because of fear. The strength it must have taken for this young woman to tell the truth in the face of threats and adversity is truly incredible.”
District Attorney Brad Cascio, the prosecutor in the case concluded with saying, “Sex crimes against juveniles are the most malicious crimes we prosecute. I intend on using every tool the legislature is willing to give us, including physical castration, to seek justice for the children in our community.”
