Company will freeze your dead body until it gets ‘reanimated’ years later, but there’s a steep price

Tomorrow Bio, a Berlin-based company, is providing a much more literal interpretation: cryogenic suspension for individuals who wish to elude death’s chilling grasp.

This isn’t exactly an inexpensive high-tech startup. In the hopes of a future revival, they are charging a hefty sum of €200,000 (roughly $222,603) with an extra €48 (roughly $55) per month to put bodies (or body parts) on ice.

The organization currently counts five pets and six human “patients” who have made the “jump” into the world. The cost of brain preservation alone is a whopping €75,000, or about $83,473).

A co-founder named Fernando Azevedo Pinheiro told the Daily Mail that, at forty years old, he thinks safe cryopreservation and the resuscitation of complex organisms may even be possible in his lifetime.
“For some,” Pinheiro says, “the primary motivation is the fear of dying. Cryopreservation offers them hope and a sense of security, providing a potential path to extend their lives.”

650 people, with an average age of 36, are reportedly on Tomorrow Bio’s waiting list despite the high cost. Pinheiro notes that, interestingly, “None of them are expecting to die anytime soon.”

The really cool part is that Tomorrow Bio provides a service known as “field cryoprotection.” In essence, an ambulance that has been modified to serve as a mobile surgery unit arrives on the scene as soon as a legal death is declared, starting the cryopreservation procedure right away.

The business asserts that it is the only one in the world providing this service. According to Pinheiro, in order to avoid permanent damage from the cold, body fluids are substituted with a specific type of “medical-grade antifreeze”. Temperatures are progressively dropped over the course of a week to a bone-chilling -196°C (-320°F), after which the body is placed in a liquid nitrogen-filled long-term storage container.

Even a money-back guarantee is offered! Should a patient be effectively resurrected (imagine Captain America, ideally without tights on), any unused portion of their investment will be reimbursed.

Tomorrow Bio highlights the successful cryopreservation of a rabbit kidney as a ray of hope. The business also has storage facilities all over Europe, and it soon intends to expand to New York City.

Pinheiro does, however, imply that a lot of his clients have aspirations that go beyond this world. He stated, “A lot of clients are enthralled with the prospects of cutting-edge experiences and technologies, like space travel.”

Will Tomorrow Bio make money on its bet on death’s future? We’ll have to wait and see, or maybe look to future technology.
