Mother of children named Aryan and Nation was high on meth in hit-and-run death of Indigenous American woman

In a harrowing incident that has left a community in shock, a 28-year-old Montana mother of two, Sunny White, was arrested for her involvement in a fatal hit-and-run accident that took the life of a young Native American woman, Mika Westwolf. The incident, which occurred in March 2023, has raised serious concerns and led to a prolonged investigation.

The Tragic Incident

Mika Westwolf, a 22-year-old Native American woman and member of the Blackfeet Nation, met a tragic fate while walking along Highway 93 near Arlee on that fateful March night. She was struck head-on by a Cadillac Escalade driven by Sunny White, who was allegedly under the influence of methamphetamine, KRTV reported. This devastating accident resulted in the loss of Mika’s life, leaving a void in the hearts of her loved ones.

The incident is made even more heart-wrenching by the fact that Sunny White was not alone in her vehicle at the time. She was carrying her 4-year-old daughter, Aryan Holmes, and her 2-year-old son, Nation Holmes, raising grave concerns about the safety and welfare of the children involved.

The Arrest of Sunny White

Sunny White was apprehended in Flathead County on a warrant out of Lake County, and she faces several serious charges, including vehicular homicide while under the influence. Additional charges against White include accidents involving another person or deceased person, two counts of criminal child endangerment, and criminal possession of dangerous drugs.

The investigation into Mika Westwolf’s death lasted for seven long months. During this time, Mika’s family led a statewide campaign to raise awareness not only about her case but also about other instances involving murdered and missing Indigenous women. They were relentless in their demand for justice and accountability, refusing to let the memory of their loved one fade away.

The Impact on the Community

The impact of this incident reverberated throughout the community. The “Mika Matters” movement was born, with Mika’s family at the forefront, seeking justice through protests and awareness walks. Their efforts led to the creation of a petition on MoveOn.org, calling on the Justice Department to take over the investigation into Mika Westwolf’s death. Their claim was that local authorities were being uncooperative and frustratingly slow in their response, the Missoulian reported.

The Continuing Battle for Justice

While Sunny White has been arrested and faces the legal consequences of her actions, Mika Westwolf’s family makes it clear that this is just the beginning of the journey towards justice. They emphasize that the fight to seek accountability, raise awareness, and protect the lives of Indigenous people and Missing and Murdered Indigenous Relatives remains an ongoing battle.

As we look ahead, we hope for a resolution that not only brings closure to Mika Westwolf’s family but also serves as a poignant reminder of the importance of safety, accountability, and the rights of Indigenous people.

This incident underscores the need for continued awareness and advocacy to ensure that such tragedies are prevented in the future. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Mika Westwolf’s family and the entire community affected by this tragedy.

    1. Tiffany Washington Why do you think it’s relevant? Would you ask to know the names of a raped woman’s children? Naw. You just like playing the narrative. Boring.

    2. John Cullison bc it proves her mindset and possible hate crime of the violence she inflicted on that poor woman! You tried it……
