99-year-old woman accomplishes dream of having knives thrown at her during circus show

Knives were thrown at a 99-year-old British woman during a circus performance, fulfilling her audacious dream. When the last act of Zippo Circus came to an end, Annie Duplock stood in front of a board and a professional knife thrower threw blades at her. As reported by the PA News Agency on Saturday, Duplock worked thirty years ago for Zippo Circus as a member of the advance publicity team that was in charge of hanging posters. She wrote to her former boss, Martin Burton, who was running a circus at Hearsall Common in Coventry, before she turned one hundred years old, asking if she could be involved in the show in order to fulfill a dream she had always had. Burton introduced Duplock, who is from Sharnford in Leicestershire, and he received a round of applause. Martin Burton said that “Annie worked for me 30 years ago, putting up posters. Annie was 70 years old then and she is 100 years old this August.”

The founder revealed to the audience during the circus show that Duplock had seen the show the previous evening and had indicated that she would like to participate in the knife-thrower’s act in honor of her 100th birthday.

Duplock told the PA News Agency, “I’ve always wanted to have knives thrown at me,” with excitement in his voice. Burton approved of Toni, the knife thrower, incorporating the nearly 100-year-old elderly woman into the show. Following her moment in the spotlight, Duplock expressed how much she had enjoyed the experience.
