Suspect dies after crashing stolen $250,000 Lamborghini during 113 mph police pursuit

Early on April 6, a man wanted for several felonies died in a fiery accident. At the intersection of Sherman Way and Reseda Boulevard in Los Angeles, police discovered 51-year-old Elliott Dugan, the suspect, dozing off behind the wheel of a $250,000 stolen Lamborghini Huracán.

Dugan, who purportedly boasted of having legal knowledge, defiantly refused to comply. After learning that the Lamborghini was stolen, he took off and started a fast-paced pursuit.

Surveillance footage shows Dugan trying to outrun the police on city streets at speeds of over 113 mph. But the chase was tragically short. According to the LAPD, Dugan lost control of the Lamborghini and collided with the center median with such force that it split in two, launching his body a considerable distance.

Officers arrived at the scene to discover the burned-out, mangled body of the Lamborghini and twisted metal pieces strewn all over the road. Along Sherman Way, a number of parked cars suffered moderate to severe damage from the impact, with car parts becoming lodged in roofs and windows. The sheer force of the collision uprooted trees that lined the median in a similar manner.

Officers had to spend several minutes finding Dugan’s body because it had been thrown onto the sidewalk of a nearby apartment building. At the scene, he was declared deceased.

While they don’t yet have all the information, the LAPD is still looking into the incident and Dugan’s past.
