Pennsylvania cop allegedly raped 13-month-old who suffered broken bones and severe bruising

Due to allegations that he sexually assaulted a 13-month-old child while working as his supervisor and caused serious harm, a 28-year-old police officer was put on leave from his job and placed in jail.

Officers from the Lykens Police Department were called to look into severe bruises that a 13-month-old child had sustained between April 11 and April 15, according to a Pennsylvania State Police report. After bringing the child to Hershey Medical Center, medical professionals found severe bruises and broken bones.

The “Criminal complaints” described the extent of her injuries, including a fractured tibia and fibula, according to records that WHP-TV looked through. According to reports from the authorities, the young girl showed signs of having been sexually assaulted.

The 13-month-old’s mother reportedly told authorities that her child fell during their bath, according to WHTM-TV. She also purportedly “offered unlikely justifications for numerous other wounds on the child’s body” and asserted that the child’s numerous bruises were caused by the family pet.

Law enforcement has identified Steven Cugini as a possible suspect. During questioning, he admitted to the police that he had changed the child’s diapers and given her a wash, which caused her to get hurt in the restroom.

According to WHTM, Cugini barricaded himself in the bathroom with the child, and the victim’s mother reported to authorities that she heard sobbing and loud noises.

According to a WHP report, Steven Cugini eventually acknowledged to the authorities that the victim had been hurt while in his charge. Cugini’s relationship to the child was kept a secret by the authorities.

According to law enforcement, on April 16, the Dauphin County District Attorney’s Office approved the filing of criminal charges against Cugini. According to WHTM, the person is charged with a number of offenses, including “violent attack,” “serious sexual misconduct with a minor,” and “sexual assault of a minor.” Cugini was placed under arrest and given a $200,000 bail amount at the Dauphin County Jail.

Michael Muldrow, the commissioner of York City Police, announced that Steven Cugini has been placed on suspension pending the outcome of the investigation.

Muldrow noted that “If these allegations are founded, trust and believe I’ll be the first to take swift and definitive action against them.”
