Louisiana man to be castrated, sentenced to prison for raping and impregnating 14-year-old
In response to his sexual assault and subsequent pregnancy of a 14-year-old girl, a 54-year-old man was sentenced to 50 years in prison and ordered to have his castration removed.
The District Attorney for the Twenty-first Judicial District, Scott Perrilloux, announced on Monday, April 22, that a judge had sentenced Glenn Sullivan Sr. to fifty years in prison and ordered that he be physically castrated. Following Sullivan’s guilty plea to four charges of second-degree rape, this decision was made.
When a teenage girl told detectives at the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office that Sullivan had allegedly sexually assaulted her several times when she was fourteen, the investigation was started in July of 2022. As a result, according to the prosecution, the girl became pregnant, and Sullivan was identified as the child’s biological father by a genetic test.
Additionally, Sullivan was accused by the prosecutor’s office of intimidating the girl and her family and “grooming the victim” in order to “stop the young lady from revealing the rape incidents.”
Perrilloux noted that, “So many of these types of cases go unreported because of fear. The strength it must have taken for this young woman to tell the truth in the face of threats and adversity is truly incredible.”
District Attorney Brad Cascio, the prosecutor in the case concluded with saying, “Sex crimes against juveniles are the most malicious crimes we prosecute. I intend on using every tool the legislature is willing to give us, including physical castration, to seek justice for the children in our community.”
