Missouri woman accused of tracking down and killing brother’s suspected murderer
(The AEGIS Alliance) – A sister, devastated by the murder of her younger brother is alleged to have tracked down his suspected assassin and killed him only days later.
Tityana Coppage is charged with second-degree murder and armed criminal action in the loss of life of 36-year-old Keith Lars, Jackson County Prosecutors office said in a statement. Police on Tuesday informed KCTV they believe the age 21 suspect sought revenge for the killing of her little brother, 16-year-old Jason Ugwuh.
The teen was fatally shot on January 10, making him the third juvenile murder victim within the family in recent times. His aunt, Aishah Coppage, told KSHB that her son, age 8 Montell Ross, and nephew, age 9 Jayden Ugwuh, had been killed in 2016 while playing games. Authorities believed the shooting was targeted, but that the youngsters weren’t meant to be the victims.
According to courtroom records, Coppage confessed to investigators that she knew the place Lars would be on January 13 after which she followed him to a parking lot, the place she allegedly fired at a car he was in at the time. Authorities stated a minimum of one of the passengers returned gunfire and that 23 shell casings had been found on the scene.
The victim’s brother tried to drive him to the hospital but stopped on the street after only a brief period of time to call for help. Responding medical crews worked to save the male person, however, in the end, were unsuccessful.
Police mentioned he had been shot in his chest and leg.
Authorities were able to track down the black Ford Escape used in the shooting because of witness accounts and surveillance footage. She admitted to officers that she was involved in the exchange of gunfire, but denied firing the first bullet.
According to an arrest affidavit, an examination of Coppage’s cellphone turned up texts to a contact named “Auntie”, asking for .45-caliber bullets and saying, “LOL I sued to many on bro.” Additionally, she sent a text to her dead brother’s cellphone saying, “Sent a [expletive] to my brother I owe em that body.”
Coppage was being held Thursday on a $200,000 bond.
