Iron Man Tony Stark Wants to Clean up World with Tech

(ActivateNow) – LAS VEGAS, NEVADAIron Man aka Tony Stark aka Robert Downey Jr. attended Amazon’s Mars Conference on Tuesday evening in Las Vegas. The world renowned actor-director made famous for his work with Stark Industries, used his time during the opening keynote to announce the launch of a new organization with a commitment to make use of advanced technologies for the betterment of the environment.

The group is named The Footprint Coalition and an official launch is scheduled by April next year in 2020.

“Between robotics and nanotechnology, we could clean up the planet significantly, if not totally, in 10 years,” Tony Stark Robert Downey Jr. affirmed. He then relayed that insights from a “round-table of experts” were given to him a few weeks ago.“God I love experts. They’re like Wikipedia with character defects,” Iron Man the actor said jokingly.

There was a free-for-all discussion that included topics such as artificial intelligence, the Marvel Cinematic Universe, how the character Tony Stark played by Robert Downey Jr. has evolved, and even the actor’s own career. This went on for over 20 minutes, actor Matt Damon was there for a cameo, along with Amazon Alexa the AI assistant. Robert Downey Jr. made his announcement when it ended.

Tony Stark Downey Jr. didn’t reveal any details about how the organization will be able to achieve its goal. However, he emphasized that even making a small dent would be the most important thing he had ever accomplished.

The Footprint Coalition group’s website went live just after Iron Man the actor-director exited the stage. Currently there isn’t much being featured on the website, but there is a sign-up form for a newsletter.

Robert Downey Jr. expressed throughout his talking points that AI is a significant technological advancement and that it gives him hope. However, he admitted and stressed that he finds himself alarmed by the current state the environment is in.

“I have this quiet sense of crisis,” he stated, and admitted he’d been contributing more than others to the climate crisis, “I’m a one-man carbon footprint nightmare colossus.”

This wasn’t the first time Tony Stark Robert Downey Jr. has been known to take AI and other advanced tech outside his role of the Marvel character known as Tony Stark. He has also been working together with his wife Susan Downey to produce a docu-series with a focus on AI for YouTube. The hour-long series is eight episodes, and was initially announced a year ago. The series is meant for the exploration of AI and its impacts on people’s lives.
