Vietnam Police Raid Finds More Than 300,000 Used Condoms Being Packed for Resale

(The AEGIS Alliance) – BINH DUONG PROVINCE, VIETNAM Vietnam police said they discovered around 320,000 used condoms that were being recycled and repackaged as new, according to Vietnam media VTV on Thursday.

Bing Buong province market inspectors raided a factory nearby Ho Chi Minh City and found used condoms in the process of being repackaged to be sold in markets. The 34-year-old factory owner woman gave a confession to inspectors and said they bought the condoms from someone else, state-owned media Tuoi Tre said.

After the condoms were purchased from a man, workers washed and reshaped them, then packaged them inside plastic bags.

VTV’s video report of the incident shows bags filled with condoms. There were also tools shown in the video of the factory, used to wash and reshape the condoms.

VTV said it was not known how many used condoms had already been resold.

Tuoi Tre media quoted a health official who said the condoms were an extreme health risk to users. Overall it was a sticky situation, but now local authorities can take a load off and let out a sigh of relief.
