Cocaine worth $1.1M discovered in backpacks in woods near U.S. border

Recently, an odd finding was made in a wooded area: “snow” that didn’t look like frozen precipitation. No meteorological service had predicted this wintry weather.

According to CBS News, two backpacks worth more than $1.1 million worth of cocaine were found the previous Thursday in Washington state, close to the Canadian border.

The same CBS News story describes how the illegal drugs were discovered by patrolling officers near Lynden. About 78 pounds of a white, powdered substance, or about 30 packaged units, were contained in the backpacks.

The cocaine was immediately turned over to the federal Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), according to a press release posted on the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) website.

“Thanks to the vigilance of Blaine Sector Border Patrol agents these dangerous narcotics were prevented from reaching our communities,” Chief Patrol Agent “Pete” Rosario Vasquez stated in the press release.

He added that, “our agents work tirelessly day in and day out to protect this nation, and this seizure highlights that crucial commitment.”

    1. Bryan DuBois There was no real photo of the cocaine, so The AEGIS Alliance created their own image with X/Twitter Grok2 AI. It says Grok 2 AI in the image description on the site too. But the story is real.
