A California Inmate Killed a Prisoner Serving Life for Child Sexual Assault, 2nd Child Molester Dies
CORCORAN, CALIFORNIA – An inmate at a central California prison fatally struck a prisoner and critically wounded another on Friday according to officials.
41-year-old Jonathan Watson used a walking cane as a weapon and caused multiple head wounds to both of the victims on Thursday at the State Prison in Corcoran in the California Substance Abuse Treatment Facility, KSEE/KGPE reports.
Both of the victims were transported to an outside hospital, one died on the way there and the other is in critical condition.
Humboldt County man Jonathan Watson is serving a life sentence and has served 10 years so far for discharging a firearm that caused great bodily injury or death, and first-degree murder.
The inmate who was killed was 48-year-old San Diego County man David Bobb who’s serving a life sentence for the aggravated sexual assault of a child under 14 years of age.
There was an analysis done in 2015 that reveals male sex offenders in California’s prison population were being killed at double the percentage rate as non-sexual offenders. Often times these imprisoned sex offenders are specifically targeted by other prisoners for their crimes against children.
There are more than 5,400 inmates housed in that prison which specializes in treatment for substance abuse.
