California workers facing ‘high risk’ of artificial intelligence replacing their jobs

(The AEGIS Alliance) – As technology advances, the potential for artificial intelligence (AI) to replace human jobs is a growing concern among experts. A recent report has shed light on the jobs that are most at risk of being replaced by AI, and the outlook is particularly concerning for workers in California.

According to the report from Net Voucher Codes, over 321,900 jobs in California are at high risk of being replaced by AI, with an additional 1.2 million jobs at medium risk. This means that a total of more than two million jobs in California are deemed high risk for automation, with nearly four million being categorized as medium risk.

The report specifically identifies cashiers, customer service representatives, and bookkeepers as being among the most at risk for AI replacement. As AI technology continues to evolve and become more sophisticated, it is likely that these jobs, and many others, will become increasingly vulnerable to automation.

It is clear that as AI technology advances, the potential impact on the job market cannot be ignored. Policymakers and business leaders will need to work together to mitigate the potential risks and ensure that workers are equipped with the skills needed to thrive in a rapidly changing job market.

These 10 jobs are facing the highest risk of AI replacing them:

  1. Cashier
  2. Customer Service Representatives
  3. Bookkeeper
  4. IT Support Technician
  5. Billing Clerk
  6. HR Assistant
  7. Paralegal Assistant
  8. Compliance Officer
  9. Claims Assessor
  10. Executive Assistant

The report’s data was sourced from USAWage.com, with researchers analyzing 199 jobs from each state based on the “Top 200 Popular Jobs” category on the website. To assess each job’s relative risk from AI and automation, as well as the likelihood of AI increasing job productivity, the researchers consulted with an AI chatbot named ChatGPT.

The report highlights that workers in other states such as Texas, New York, and Florida are also at high risk of being replaced by AI. The overall estimate is that approximately 19.5 million jobs across the United States are at high risk of being displaced by AI. However, it is worth noting that about 15.7 million job sectors are expected to use AI to increase job productivity.

The potential for AI to disrupt the job market is a growing concern, and reports like this one serve as an important reminder of the need for continued investment in education and skills training. By equipping workers with the skills they need to succeed in an increasingly automated world, we can help to mitigate the negative impact of AI on the job market and ensure that workers are prepared for the jobs of the future.
