Officials: Florida Man with ‘secret bunker’ at his home produced child porn with kids as young as 8

(The AEGIS Alliance) – A Florida man who possessed a “secret bunker” at home was charged with more than 100 counts of child pornography after greeting deputies at his front door with a shotgun held in his hands.

Marty Bass, 57, was commanded several times to set his gun down until he finally did during the December 16 raid at his property in DeFuniak Springs, a small city near Alabama’s border, the Walton County Sheriff’s said.

Right after placing him in handcuffs, deputies began searching the property and discovered two disturbing findings.

They first looked through the suspect’s cellphone and located more than 100 child porn images, including some produced by Bass that depicted young victims 8 to ten years of age or older.

Deputies later located a hidden bunker in a shed near the residence. The bunker’s entrance was disguised as a bench, which led to a hole with a tunnel leading underground.

Authorities are investigating whether Bass used the secret underground area to produce some of the child porn that was found on his telephone.

Marty Bass is charged with 10 counts of manufacturing child pornography and 100 counts of ownership of child pornography. He’s is being held on a $1 million bond, according to jail records.

The investigation was initially launched because of a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
