Stoner accidentally texts Mississippi cop to get together to ‘smoke’

When a stranger texted a police officer in Gulfport, Mississippi, by mistake to set up a drug-related meetup, the exchange turned humorous. The humorous exchange, which featured the officer’s clever response, was shared on social media by the city’s police department.

The event occurred late on Friday night at around 10 p.m. when someone, thinking they were texting a friend, asked them about their plans after they texted to get together and “smoke.” They had no idea that their text had ended up in the wrong hands.

“Chillin, hbu (how about you),” the cop texted.

“Wanna smoke,” the unkonwn stoner asked.

The cop gave a response to the invite, and wrote, “I don’t think I’m going to be able to smoke with you.”

The stoner texted back, “Bruh, we smoke all the time.”

The cop let the person know they probably messaged the wrong phone number, yet the weed smoker continued.

“Bruh, stop cappin (lying or joking),” the toker texted.

Instead of engaging in further conversation, the officer decided to send a clear message. He snapped a photo of himself proudly displaying his police badge and dispatched it to the sender.

“No cap (lie or joke),” the cop quipped.

The department gave some advice to the community on their Facebook page in addition to sharing screenshots of the text exchange.

“Pro tip: Before you send the text, double-check the number. Nothing like a wrong number text to really spice up someone’s day,” the Gulfport police wrote on Facebook.

The Facebook post caught some attention, with one user leaving a comment saying, “Literally, I would’ve changed my number THAT MOMENT!!!”

Another person commented, “The way I would have thrown my phone across the room when I got that picture! I would have been scared to pick it back up for the rest of the day! I’m second hand embarrassed for this person.”
