Bill Cooper Predicted 9/11 in Advance and Was Shot Dead by Deputies Weeks Later

Milton William “Bill” Cooper told his Hour of the Time listeners on June 28, 2001 that something huge was coming, that it would be blamed on Osama bin Laden, and that it would be used to take the rest of the Republic. Seventy-five days later the towers fell. On November 5, 2001 Apache County deputies shot Cooper dead outside his Eagar, Arizona home after a warrant service that his supporters still call an execution.

Cooper was a Navy veteran who said he had held Top Secret, Q, and SI clearances at the CINCPACFLT Command Center at Makalapa, Hawaii. He wrote Behold a Pale Horse, an underground bestseller that mixed leaked documents, UFO lore, and a running indictment of the CIA, the CFR, and secret societies. Mainstream obituaries called him a militia theoretician. He spent years being wrong about microchips and a calendar of apocalypse dates. The 9/11 warning is the piece that will not die, because he put bin Laden’s name on a coming attack two and a half months early, then died in a gunfight with police before he could gloat.

The official story is that Cooper opened fire on deputies serving warrants related to tax evasion and aggravated assault. The other story, the one his audience still tells, is that a man who named the attack was removed. Deputies arrived in unmarked vehicles and plain clothes. His last broadcast that evening had been about a planned Vietnam book. The AEGIS Alliance is not going to launder either version into certainty. We will say this: a broadcaster who predicted a bin Laden spectacular, then ended up on a coroner’s slab 11 weeks after the planes, is a file that still belongs in public. Cooper’s own rule still applies: read everything, listen to everybody, don’t trust anything you cannot prove yourself.
