Counselor claims: ‘Missing’ Rudy Farias’ mother ‘kept him hidden and abused him for 8 years’

Rudy Farias allegedly endured eight years of seclusion within his mother’s residence, as asserted by a prominent figure in the community who conducted an interview with Mr. Farias, accompanied by officers from the Houston Police Department. The interviewee further implied that during this period, Mr. Farias suffered mistreatment at the hands of his mother.

Mr Farias gained attention in the media recently when his mother, Janie Santana, informed journalists that he had been discovered after going missing on the 6th of March, 2015. Janie Santana asserted that she had been notified by the authorities that her child was located injured near a place of worship.

The authorities declared that they planned to question Mr Farias, who his mother claimed was unable to speak, on Wednesday. However, neighbors’ statements disputing Ms Santana’s version of events cast doubt on her story. Allegations have now surfaced against Ms Santana after HPD officers and counselor Quanell X separated Mr Farias from his mother to inquire about his whereabouts during the past eight years.

“I heard horrific things from that young man, and I didn’t want him to see me shedding tears but I couldn’t hold them back,” Mr Quanell X said on Wednesday, FOX 26 Houston reported. “No child should ever be treated like that by their own mother.”

The counselor asserted that Mr Farias alleged that his mother mistreated him in a sexual and physical manner, coerced him into consuming mind-altering fungi, and concealed him in their residence while she pretended that he was absent, appealing to the public for his secure retrieval.

Mr Quanell X claimed that Mr Farias first fled when he disappeared in 2015 but came back to his residence a mere 48 hours later. Following this, Ms Santana purportedly informed him that he must conceal himself and could face being arrested if he ever attempted to run off again.

“So she brought him back to the house and hid him in the home and initially whenever investigators would come, she would hide him in the house,” Quanell X stated. “He just kept saying, ‘I don’t want to go to jail.’”

Mr. Farias purportedly expressed his exhaustion from “living like a slave,” further asserting that Ms Santana supposedly brought him along to work and imposed her tasks upon him.

“She was giving him drugs. She was punishing him by locking him in a room over and over,” Mr Quanell X said with emotions while holding back his tears. “She convinced him that law enforcement wanted to put him in jail, that law enforcement was looking for him because he ran away, and that because he ran away, he was going to go to prison.”

Mr Quanell X continued by stating that Mr Farias successfully stole his mother’s automobile and got away at some point in the previous week before ultimately crashing the car.

The statement from the Houston police department asserts that they will refrain from providing comments regarding the accusations against Ms Santana.

“Detectives with our Missing Persons Unit interviewed Mr Rudy Farias, 25, and his mother today,” an HPD statement wrote. “While there are reports of some of the content of the interviews being released, our detectives are not in a position at this time to discuss specifics of the interviews or if the content being released is entirely factual.”

Additional details are planned to be released Thursday, authorities mentioned.
