Pennsylvania woman looking to adopt pet at shelter, finds dog she lost two years ago

A woman that was wanting to adopt a family pet from an animal shelter in Pennsylvania wound up finding a pet dog she’d lost 2 years earlier.

Asha Nieves was trying to find a pet dog for her 2 children when she visited the Lehigh County Humane Society’s website and noticed a photo of her dog Kovu, which had gone missing from Nieves’ yard in Allentown in 2019, according to The Morning Call.

“I at first thought, ‘No way is this my dog,’” Nieves said to the Call. “They had him under another name, ‘Ash.’ When I was sure it was him, I got so excited I was literally shaking.”

Kovu came up missing in May of 2019, evidently squeezing through an opening in a gate in Nieves’ yard. A few weeks later the local humane society picked up the pitbull-rottweiler mix who was unhealthy, coping with fleas and also missing hair, the Call pointed out.

Several months later a family had adopted the pet dog, however, they came back earlier this month after they “faced possible eviction,” the Call mentioned. That’s when Nieves realized the canine on the website had a scar over one of his eyes and she then knew the dog was hers, which caused her to take immediate action and reclaim him.

Video of the two reuniting reported by WFMZ reveals the hyper-active dog becoming overjoyed when he saw Nieves.

“We locked eyes and I seen his smile and he started wagging his tail,” Nieves said.

“Soon as he started coming, he started squealing and screaming and yelling and jumping on me kissing.”
