13 people hospitalized after explosion and fire at Ohio metal factory

(The AEGIS Alliance) – An explosion occurred at I. Schumann & Co, a copper alloy manufacturing plant in Ohio, resulted in more than a dozen people being hospitalized. According to the Oakwood Village Fire Department, 13 individuals were taken to the MetroHealth Medical Center hospital for treatment, with two of them being in critical condition.

The explosion, which took place at around 3 p.m., caused debris to fly toward the building, the roof, and the parking lot, with several cars catching fire.

A witness who posted photos and videos on Facebook stated that the whole building shook violently.

The Oakwood Village Fire Department reported that the fire was mostly extinguished by 5 p.m.

Though the cause of the explosion is still unknown, I. Schumann & Co. released a statement saying that it occurred at their Bedford facility and resulted in significant damage to the facility and injuries to their employees. The company’s top priority is supporting its employees and the first responders who arrived quickly at the scene.

This event took place following a previous incident in Ohio, where a train derailment in East Palestine, which occurred earlier this month, caused significant health concerns.
