Help Support Social and Human Rights
Donations raise awareness of social and human rights issues through projects, targeted ads, and our social media network. We make an effort to keep biased political content out of those projects and ads. The site has covered politics since 2025. The marketing for this cause does not. About 60 to 70 percent of donations go toward the cause.
We are independent media. We do not answer to, and are not owned by, billionaires, corporations, politicians, or special interests. We have no sponsors, so none of that shapes the reporting. Support also covers the website and other upkeep. Thank you for looking into the cause.
Michigan, 1988: ads for an open double-murder case
Right now the newsroom is buying ads for an investigative article we also turned into a video. It examines an alleged police double-murder cover-up in Three Rivers, Michigan, in December 1988. The ad buy is focused on Michigan, the state where it happened. The aim is to keep the open case moving toward prosecution of two suspects, and to clear a man who died in jail while awaiting trial.
The video sits inside the full investigation: Police Double Murder COVERUP EXPOSED! Exonerate Robert Odell Waters! Justice for Cathy Sue Swartz and Christina Y Shelton!
A contribution helps run those Michigan ads for the families of Cathy Sue Swartz and Christina Y. Shelton, and for the effort to exonerate Robert Odell Waters.
Costa Rica: corruption reporting since 2022
We have reported on corruption in Costa Rica since 2022. That reporting tracks with U.S. involvement and a 2025 corruption crackdown in the country. In the days after we published How a Secret Complaint Ignited a U.S. Crackdown on Costa Rican Corruption: The Whistleblower’s Gambit, the public record moved quickly:
- Officials described Costa Rica as a major cocaine transit point, and in our reporting as the largest cocaine distributor in the world.
- Celso Gamboa Sánchez was accused of stealing foreigners’ properties, buying judges’ verdicts, and using false charges to get foreigners expelled so the property could be taken.
- Gamboa has been described as an expert at stealing properties.
- Costa Rica changed the law in 2025 so nationals can be extradited for serious criminal offenses. The constitutional reform cleared its final legislative vote in May 2025.
- Gamboa was arrested in June 2025 on a U.S. request and has since been extradited to face prosecution in the United States.
- More visas were revoked in the same period.
The article and video have the documents and the timeline. Ads and posts are how that reporting reaches people who will never land on the site on their own.
