U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS — Denise George sued Jeffrey Epstein’s estate in January 2020 for trafficking girls to Little St. James as recently as 2018 — after his Florida sweetheart deal, after the Miami Herald blew the case back open, after he was already dead.
The complaint said girls as young as 12 were “deceptively lured” with money, jobs, school help, and career talk, then raped and held on the island. “Epstein created a network of companies and individuals who participated in and conspired with him in a pattern of criminal activity related to the sex trafficking, forced labor, sexual assault, child abuse and sexual servitude of these young women.” George wanted the USVI assets forfeited and said the filing was not meant to crowd out the women already suing the estate.
On November 30, 2022 she announced the settlement: more than $105 million in cash, plus half the proceeds from selling Little St. James, from the estate, co-executors Darren Indyke and Richard Kahn, and ten Epstein-created entities. JPMorgan Chase later paid the Virgin Islands $75 million in September 2023 — $30 million for charities, $25 million for anti-trafficking enforcement, $20 million in fees — after the territory accused the bank of enabling the pipeline. Deutsche Bank and others wrote their own checks. Bank of America paid $72.5 million.
Ghislaine Maxwell is still serving 20 years. The Supreme Court refused her appeal on October 6, 2025. On August 25, 2026 Judge Paul Engelmayer rejected her latest bid to vacate the conviction, finding the newly released Epstein files incriminated her rather than cleared her. Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor lost his titles on November 3, 2025 and was arrested February 19, 2026 on suspicion of misconduct in public office. The Epstein Files Transparency Act, signed November 19, 2025, forced the Justice Department to start posting records. On January 30, 2026 the department said it had published more than 3.5 million additional pages.
Little St. James was never a rumor. It was a jurisdiction that took more than a hundred million dollars to admit what the girls had already said.
