Eminem Sent Mom’s Spaghetti to Detroit Hospital Workers, Then Opened a Restaurant Across From Comerica Park
DETROIT — Eminem sent tubs of «Mom’s Spaghetti» to Henry Ford Health System while the city’s hospital workers were drowning in COVID. Union Joints delivered them with Shady Records thank-you labels. Henry Ford posted: the team «lost themselves» in the pasta.
The Marshall Mathers Foundation backed the drop. Detroit Medical Center got the same meal. More hospitals were on the list.

«Lose Yourself,» from 8 Mile, won the Oscar for Best Original Song in 2002. The Coachella 2018 pop-up had already turned the lyric into a plate. Shady Records then contracted Union Joints for eight Detroit-area hospitals and later the TCF Center vaccination site.
From a Hospital Drop to Woodward Avenue
On September 29, 2021 Eminem and Paul Rosenberg opened a brick-and-mortar Mom’s Spaghetti at 2131 Woodward Avenue, across from Comerica Park. He handed out orders on opening night. The window sells spaghetti with regular or vegan meatballs and a «‘sghetti sandwich.» Upstairs, The Trailer sells 8 Mile merch. The restaurant is still there. The lyric that started as a joke about a poor kid’s dinner is now a storefront that feeds Tigers fans and tourists on the same block as the ballpark.
Eminem remains one of the best-selling artists on earth, north of 220 million records. The donation was not a photo op dressed up as charity. Hospital workers in Detroit were eating pasta from a rapper while the rest of the country argued over stimulus crumbs.
