Ajit Varadaraj Pai of the #FCC has been #DOXED! #OpNetNeutrality #OpDefendTheNet

Ajit Varadaraj Pai of the Federal Communications Commission has been doxed. The full text was on Pastebin but has since been removed. The hack was a part of #OpNetNeutrality / #OpDefendTheNet and was carried out by Anonymous Intel Sec on Facebook and Twitter; an Anonymous sec as part of a bigger Anonymous Belgium and Europe on social media platforms. Included in the hack with personal information about the 44 Chairman of the United States FCC, are 33 street addresses, 10 phone numbers, emails, social media accounts, and 42 family members or associates. The AEGIS Alliance tweeted it out; and it received some re-tweets, mainly due to @YourAnonGlobal and the others that followed. According to sources; Ajit Pai has shut down his phone number, things such as this are bound to happen with others included in the doxx.

The DOXX was later removed from PasteBin because there were actual violent threats against Ajit Pai and his family, with random people contacting them.

What Happened to Ajit Pai and Net Neutrality

The doxxing erupted in the middle of one of the most heated internet-policy fights in U.S. history. Weeks after the leak, the FCC under Pai’s leadership voted to repeal the 2015 Open Internet rules, reclassifying broadband as a lightly regulated «information service» and stripping away the bright-line bans on blocking, throttling, and paid prioritization. The repeal took effect in 2018 and was largely upheld by the D.C. Circuit, cementing Pai as the public face of the rollback for activists who had rallied under #OpNetNeutrality and #OpDefendTheNet.

Pai stepped down as FCC chairman on January 20, 2021, at the end of the first Trump administration, and later moved into the private sector. The regulatory battle he started, however, kept swinging. In April 2024 the FCC — then led by Chairwoman Jessica Rosenworcel — voted to restore net neutrality by once again classifying broadband as a Title II telecommunications service, reinstating the 2015-style protections.

That revival was short-lived. The Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals first stayed the rules in August 2024, and on January 2, 2025 a unanimous panel struck the order down entirely in Ohio Telecom Association v. FCC, holding that broadband is an «information service» Congress never authorized the agency to regulate as a common carrier. The court leaned heavily on the Supreme Court’s 2024 Loper Bright decision, which abolished the Chevron deference that had let the FCC flip broadband’s classification back and forth for nearly a decade. Pai publicly applauded the ruling. With the agency’s authority gutted by the courts, the future of an open internet has largely shifted to Congress — exactly the fight the activists behind this operation warned about years earlier.
