The memo was not a charging document. It was situational awareness for colleagues heading into a Maxwell case. That is the angle that still matters. The last bullet is why the email exists. The Maxwell indictment’s time frame overlapped the period the logs covered. A passenger who later becomes a witness is a discovery problem if the trial team learns the name from a reporter instead of from its own box of manifests. Data Set 8 was an early wave. On January 30, 2026, the department published more than 3 million additional pages, plus thousands of videos and about 180,000 images, and said the running total was near 3.5 million pages under the Epstein Files Transparency Act. Todd Blanche, by then deputy attorney general and previously Trump’s personal lawyer, told reporters the department had not protected the president by name and that victim identities and illegal images were the lawful withholdings.

In the same season the department labeled a purported 2019 Epstein-to-Larry-Nassar letter fake — wrong handwriting, postmark after the death, no inmate number.
