Woman Arrested for Entering New Orleans Airport Naked, Refusing to Leave
(The AEGIS Alliance) – NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA – A woman recently arrived at the Louis Armstrong International Airport in New Orleans fully naked and was arrested. The airport staff told her she would not be allowed to fly without any clothes on, and she refused to leave.
Age 27 Mariel Vergara who lives in Pueblo, Colorado went into the airport completely naked and walked up to the Spirit Airlines counter on April 4, according to NOLA.com. Police were called, but by the time they arrived at the scene, Vergara had already put a short skirt on.
An officer that arrived at the airport said Vergara had no underwear on and that she wasn’t properly covered up by the short skirt. It meant that Vergara was still in violation of public decency laws.
Officials with Spirit Airlines did not let Vergara board a flight because she lacked attire, after being asked to leave the airport, she refused to, and was arrested after a scuffle with authorities while she was being taken into custody.
Mariel Vergara is being charged with obscenity, resisting arrest, the battery of a police officer, simple battery, and remaining in a place after being forbidden.
Vergara was jailed at the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center in Gretna and her bond amount was set at $5,000.
