About The AEGIS Alliance and What We Do Here

AEGIS in The AEGIS Alliance stands for: The Activists – Alliance for the Exposure of Government Intelligence and Secrets

We do not allow plagiarism or copyright infringement of our own content.

We mostly publish our own original articles and we give credit to media sources when writing our own articles. It’s more credible that way. We’ve made improvements to the SEO on our site and will continue to do that. There are zero click-throughs. TheAEGISAlliance.com is available in many languages with a switcher on both the desktop and mobile versions of the website, translations aren’t always perfect in certain languages and rely on Google translations.

The AEGIS Alliance involves a partnership agreement filed with trustworthy friends; between the United States, Canada, and United Kingdom acting as allies.

We are not GhostSec Group, they run on “Donations” …But there are government-backed donations going to GhostSec Group. GhostSec Group has carried out certain greater operations. These and other operations, in particular the large DDOS that happened to Turkey, wasn’t just a group of teenagers in their basement. There are however, other GhostSec that we are familiar with and have associated with.

It’s not that we aren’t cooperative with the United States, Canada, or the United Kingdom, but we aren’t controlled by the government either.

There are many Anonymous from many Anonymous out there, who are the real Anons… White Hat hackers as one would want it to be, but there are Black Hats. There are also Grey Hats who are White Hats by day and Black Hats by night. There’s also Gray Hats who don’t have malicious intent as a Black Hat would, because of the White Hat in them, like us.

Anything AEGIS has done; is for a very good reason, and mainly white hat or grey hat. As a grey hat, we don’t have malicious intent like a black hat would. The truth is; behind the masks, Novice to Elite, most Anons depend on world currencies for their very own survival, but true Anons refuse to make money in the name of Anonymous. The AEGIS Alliance avoids such controversies since we aren’t Anonymous, but we’ve been Anons since before 2016.

There has since been the Dyn DNS attack which shut down many websites of great importance for a lot of people; those in the United States were affected the most.

We have no intention of attacking the United States, Canada, or the United Kingdom. If anyone attacks the United States, Canada, or the United Kingdom and claims to be AEGIS; they aren’t us, or are a rogue agent. But, we cannot control all of Anonymous!

We still stand as not controlled by a government. We have our limited contacts. We do not claim to be a leader of the Legion, and we made damned sure not to take the name of Anonymous when I came up with the acronym for AEGIS.

“We do not claim to be a leader of the Legion; The AEGIS Alliance has Anonymous Allies.

Where The Movement Stands Now

The hacktivist landscape we came up in has shifted considerably since the early days described above. The same currents that pulled at the edges of Anonymous have continued to reshape who claims the mask and why. A useful case study is a group that isn’t Anonymous called GhostSec that we distinguished ourselves from years ago.

In the autumn of 2023, GhostSec crossed a line that many old-guard Anons consider a betrayal of the cause: it built and operated a ransomware platform called GhostLocker, partnering with the Stormous gang to run double-extortion attacks for profit. That is precisely the kind of money-in-the-name-of-the-cause behavior that true Anons reject, and it is exactly why The AEGIS Alliance had tried to keep its distance. On May 15, 2024, the group publicly announced it was retiring from cybercrime and returning to hacktivism, claiming it had raised enough funding to sustain its operations. By 2025, security researchers at Rapid7 and Cisco Talos reported that the GhostLocker codebase lived on under Stormous as a renamed ransomware-as-a-service operation — a reminder that walking away from a tool you built is rarely as clean as the announcement makes it sound.

The broader point matters for understanding the difference between a grey hat alliance and a group that had drifted into outright cybercrime. When a banner can be picked up by anyone, the only thing that separates principled activism from opportunism is what the people behind the mask actually do. Through the renewed Iran–Israel cyber conflict that erupted in mid-2025, dozens of self-described hacktivist outfits flooded the field, and analysts warned that some were “faketivists” — state-backed operators wearing activist clothing to muddy attribution. We have always said it plainly: many Anonymous from many Anonymous, and not all of them are who they claim to be.

None of this changes who we are. The AEGIS Alliance does not run on ransomware, does not sell stolen databases, and does not take the name of Anonymous. We remain independent, not government-controlled, and committed to original reporting and the exposure of government intelligence and secrets. For more from us, our official YouTube channel remains the place to confirm videos attributed to AEGIS.

The same identity problem has not gotten cleaner. After Nguyen Phu Trong died in July 2024, Vietnam’s new general secretary To Lam kept the press-freedom clamp in place — a reminder of why operations such as our earlier #OpVietnam work still matter to people who cannot speak freely at home. Reporters Without Borders ranked Vietnam 174 out of 180 in its 2026 index, with 27 journalists detained. State-backed “faketivists” still borrow the mask when it is convenient. We do not. We publish original reporting, we credit sources, and we do not take the name of Anonymous.

On April 23, 2026, Anonymous-affiliated participants launched #OpEchoNuke, a decentralized sticker-and-post campaign built on V for Vendetta imagery and the old 4chan roots. That is the same identity problem this page named from the start: anyone can pick up the mask. The AEGIS Alliance still does not. Our official YouTube channel is the place to confirm videos attributed to us.

The Mask Is Going Back To Theaters

Warner Bros. is putting V for Vendetta back in theaters on November 1 and November 5, 2026 for the film’s 20th anniversary, through Fathom Entertainment and Saga Arts. That is the same Guy Fawkes face #OpEchoNuke was still pasting onto lamp posts this spring. The anniversary does not settle the identity problem. It restates it. Anyone can buy the mask. Anyone can borrow the banner. The AEGIS Alliance still does not take the name of Anonymous, still does not run on ransomware, and still publishes original reporting. For the Vietnam file that is still open under To Lam, see our #OpVietnam record.
