Motor Image Group, Subaru&#8217;s independent distributor across nine Asian markets including Singapore, built the show car. Subaru of America sent dealers an apology letter calling it an &#8220;unfortunate situation&#8221; and stressing that Subaru of America and Subaru Corporation &#8220;had nothing to do with this.&#8221; The parent company had the nameplate pulled while the show was still running. The naming, it said, &#8220;in no way reflects the values and standards we hold true.&#8221; American buyers were told, bluntly, they would not be getting one.<\/p>\n<p>Snopes later confirmed the car was real. It sat next to a Forester e-Boxer, a Forester GT, a refreshed Impreza, and the Viziv Adrenaline Concept, and it got more cameras than all of them. Under the joke wrap: royal blue with red accents, 20-inch Enkei wheels, dark suede-leather, red stitching, STI badges on the seats and shifter. Reviewers who got past the letters called it a head-turner. Whether it was a translation accident or accidental viral marketing, it did what polished campaigns rarely do \u2014 put one Forester in front of millions of people.<\/p>\n<p>The AEGIS Alliance files it with the rest of <a href=\"https:\/\/theaegisalliance.com\/category\/news\/odd-news\/\">Odd News<\/a>, next to the <a href=\"https:\/\/theaegisalliance.com\/2019\/02\/17\/hand-jobs-salon-controversy\/\">Sandusky salon that survived a zoning fight over its name<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Subaru&#8217;s Singapore distributor showed a Forester Ultimate Customized Kit Special.
