A « Karen » Called Police on a Black Man Sitting in His Car Outside His Own House

A woman on a residential street called the police on a Black man sitting in a car outside his own house. He got out, walked past her, opened his front door, and went inside. A roommate confirmed he lived there. She kept talking. She accused him of dealing drugs. She pointed at a car in the driveway as if it were evidence. He asked her to watch her mouth around children. The clip did what those clips did in 2020: it went nationwide, the word « Karen » did the rest, and a lot of people who had never met either of them picked a side.

The pattern was already a genre. Amy Cooper called police on birdwatcher Christian Cooper in Central Park on May 25, 2020 after he asked her to leash her dog, telling a dispatcher « an African American man » was threatening her life. She lost her job. This driveway video is simpler. He was home. She called anyway. The AEGIS Alliance is not here to invent a federal case out of a doorbell camera. We are here to say the reflex to summon armed officers onto a Black man in his own driveway is the story, and it did not start or end with this woman. Several cities later moved to make a false, racially motivated 911 call a punishable offense.
