Assistant principal arrested on charges of sexually abusing child in San Bernardino County
(The AEGIS Alliance) – An assistant principal at a San Bernardino County school has been arrested on charges of sexually abusing a child, according to officials on Friday.
42-year-old Matthew Lin Johnson of Apple Valley was arrested on Thursday after he was identified as the suspect who sexually abused a 10-year-old girl on a number of occasions when she was only seven and eight years old, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department stated in a press release.
Johnson works as the Assistant Principal at Oak Hills High School. He was seen listed in the school’s directory on Friday.
“At this time, Crimes Against Children detectives have not found any evidence that Johnson had inappropriate contact with students at the school,” the Sheriff’s Department mentioned.
Officials didn’t disclose how Johnson knew the victim, however, “the suspect is known to the victim, it was not a stranger situation,” sheriff’s spokesperson Cindy Bachman said.
Johnson was booked right into a San Bernardino jail on suspicion of continuous sexual abuse of a minor below the age of 14 and lewd and lascivious acts with a child below 14.
He is being held without bail, county inmate records show.
