Donald Trump did not spend Saturday on sleep, school buses, or the winter sun. He posted a phone number and called it a plan for daylight saving.<\/p>\n

On October 3, 2026, he used Truth Social to target Senator Tom Cotton of Arkansas, chair of the Senate Intelligence Committee, and told the state to call a number he presented as Cotton\u2019s personal cellphone. He wanted permanent daylight saving time and a chorus of \u201cGET IT DONE.\u201d CNN<\/a>, the New York Times<\/a>, Reuters<\/a>, and USA Today<\/a> described the post. The digits are not repeated here. No newsroom reached a person who said he was Cotton, and USA Today could not confirm the line was his.<\/p>\n

That is the story under the clock. The president treated a supposed private number for the senator who chairs intelligence oversight as a tip line. The pressure works even if the digits are wrong. Other Republicans can see what happens to a man Trump calls a friend.<\/p>\n

CNN quoted him calling Cotton \u201ca friend of mine\u201d who was \u201cholding up a very important Bill,\u201d which Trump renamed the \u201cWe Don\u2019t Want to Change Our Clocks Twice a Year Act.\u201d He told \u201cthe Great People of Arkansas\u201d the vote would be \u201ca GREAT Bipartisan WIN,\u201d bragged that he had carried the state three times, and finished with the pile-on. \u201cCall Tom on his cellphone.\u201d<\/p>\n

CNN said the mailbox was full, then reached a recording that the wireless customer was unavailable. The New York Times heard a greeting for someone \u201ctemporarily unavailable,\u201d with no immediate comment from Cotton\u2019s office. Reuters, filing from Dayton, said the voicemail never identified him.<\/p>\n
