Former ABC News journalist facing child porn charges
(The AEGIS Alliance) – A former investigative journalist who used to work for ABC News was taken into custody by the Department of Justice on Wednesday on suspicion of “moving” pictures showing the exploitation of minors in a sexual manner.
James Gordon Meek, a 53-year-old man from Arlington, Virginia, was taken into custody on Tuesday after months of time passed since there was a search of his home by federal officials.
The authorities discovered disturbing pictures depicting children engaging in sexually explicit acts on electronic devices recovered from his residence. Court documents reveal that they also came across multiple conversations where the participants expressed excitement and enjoyment regarding the sexual exploitation of minors.
Meek has been accused of transporting child pornography, a crime that carries a minimum sentence of five years in prison and a maximum of 20 years, according to official statements.
ABC News chose not to make a statement on the matter on Wednesday. Meek previously resigned from his employment at ABC News in 2022.

The FBI’s investigation was initiated as a result of a report received from Dropbox concerning child pornography discovered in a Dropbox account linked to Meek, as stated in court documents. In April, federal agents conducted a search of Meek’s residence and confiscated several electronic devices.
According to official reports, the investigation uncovered that Meek had interacted with underage individuals through social media platforms such as Snapchat. One minor interviewed by law enforcement stated that Meek had made contact with them through Snapchat and pressured them to send sexually explicit images, as stated in the court documents.
