(The AEGIS Alliance) – A teacher in South Florida, age 41, that purportedly took part in an unacceptable relationship with a minor who used to attend a school apparently said to the authorities that she’s actually pregnant.
The Doral Police Department informed People Magazine that Heiry Calvi, a teacher, notified police that she is pregnant following her apprehension this past Thursday. Authorities did not disclose who the child’s biological father was.
Authorities released Calvi from jail on Saturday after she bonded out. She is facing a number of charges, consisting of lewd and lascivious battery as well as neglecting a child.
A video recording apparently revealed Calvi taking part in sexual intercourse with the age 15 teen that she had educated while employed by the John I. Smith K-8 Center in Doral.
The teen student explained that their relationship was consensual in an arrest record, however, Doral Police representative Rey Valdes said to the Miami Herald that, “A child does not have the legal authority to give consent even though the child may say ‘this is OK.’”
Police apparently launched an investigation into the case back in March, with authorities pointing out that Calvi tutored the teen at his residence in 2013.
The Miami-Dade County Public Schools district had placed Heiri Calvi on administrative duties, CBS Miami reported.
The district gave a statement that said it is “disturbed” by Calvi’s apprehension.
“When the District was apprised of these allegations in March, the employee was immediately reassigned to a non-school site location,” the school district pointed out. “The District will begin employment termination proceedings and will ensure the individual is prevented from seeking future employment with this school system.”
Police additionally discovered a Glock 43 9mm handgun in Calvi’s car on October 8. Calvi claimed it was her hubby’s firearm.
Doral is located in Miami-Dade County and is near Miami around 15 miles northwest of it.
