North Carolina man arrested for allegedly sexually abusing 17-month-old

(The AEGIS Alliance) – Authorities apprehended an age 22 male suspect about a week ago for purportedly committing sexual criminal offenses against kids that includes a 17-month-old.

On September 15, deputies with the Davie County Sheriff’s Office, in addition to federal agents coming from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) searched a home on Stagecoach Road in the 300 blocks in the city of Mocksville. Authorities apparently obtained significant information from their Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force pertaining to child sexual abuse.

The Sheriff’s Office stated they uncovered and found a “large amount” of explicit material at Steven Tyler Smith’s home. The 17-month-old victim that was identified is apparently “now safe and receiving proper services.”

Smith is facing charges that include 6 counts of third-degree sexual exploitation of an underage victim and two counts of indecent liberties with a youngster. Then he faced additional charges a couple of days following his apprehension that includes a statutory sex offense with a child by an adult.

Jail records indicate that Smith is currently locked up at the Davie County Detention Center on a $500,000 secured bond amount.
