Police: Houston, Texas man fatally shoots wife at rehab facility, then himself

(The AEGIS Alliance) – A man in Houston, Texas who had been visiting his wife following her suffering from a stroke apparently fired a fatal gunshot at the woman, at that point he decided to take his own life while inside the rehabilitation center.

The senior-aged married couple, whose identities have not been made public, had been in her room at the NeuroRestorative medical facility at about 2 p.m. on Sunday when staff members heard “popping sounds,” Click2Houston initially reported.

The workers disregarded the sound.

After workers later entered the room to check in on the 78-year-old wife and 80-year-old husband, the woman was discovered sagged over in her wheelchair, authorities stated.

An employee started to give her CPR, at that point they saw the gunshot injury.

Her hubby was located resting on the ground, likewise suffering from a gunshot injury.

The married couple was declared dead at the scene.

There is an ongoing investigation by authorities into the deaths that have been deemed a murder-suicide and pointed out that no additional injuries have been reported.

“We are cooperating with a police investigation related to an incident at our facility today,” NeuroRestorative stated to Click2Houston. “All other individuals and employees at the facility are safe, and we are currently reaching out to families and caregivers to update them on the well-being of their loved ones.”

The facility deals with folks who suffer from “brain, spinal cord, and medically complex injuries, illnesses and other challenges,” its website says.
