Police: San Diego man, 62, disarmed, shot, and killed would-be-burglar during home invasion
(The AEGIS Alliance) – A San Diego man, age 62, disarmed and also shot and killed a would-be burglar during a home intrusion on Tuesday evening, authorities claimed.
The occurrence happened when the man returned to his residence at about 9 p.m. and was then held at gunpoint to let 2 male suspects inside, the San Diego Union-Tribune reported.
In the home, the burglars started looking for belongings. The man disarmed the gunman and also aimed the firearm at the suspect. When he charged the homeowner, the man discharged his gun at the burglar numerous times. After the 2nd burglar escaped, the man dialed 911.
Police showed up and carried out CPR on the age 39 assaulter. He was transferred to a healthcare facility where he then died.
Police stated they did not think the burglars recognized the homeowner and they weren’t anticipating to charge the older man with any kind of criminal offenses connected to the incident. However, authorities stated the district attorney will make a decision on whether the man’s actions were in self-defense.
