Teacher masturbating in Zoom classroom thought he ‘was logged out when class was over’

(The AEGIS Alliance) – He was pretty certain he had no class, but he’s not a pervert.

That’s the claim teaching assistant Mark Schack is making, who had been caught on video masturbating for 13 seconds after a video lesson ended for Shady Grove Middle School eighth-graders in a Maryland suburb close to Washington, D.C.

“I thought I was logged out when class was over,” Schack said to Bethesda Magazine. “I had no clue that Zoom was still on.”

Schack was reportedly placed on administrative leave while the incident is under investigation. He is insistent that what occurred on Monday wasn’t intentional and mentioned what he did is “crazy behavior” in any other case. He stated he has worked with the school district for 21 years and would not jeopardize his profession by doing something as inappropriate as performing a sex act on a digital camera.

“I’m not a pervert or anything like that,” Schack insisted. “You gotta believe me on that… I thought I was in the privacy of my own home.”

Schack claimed he wasn’t aware of the masturbating controversy until a reporter called him on Wednesday. The school district notified him on Monday that he has been placed on leave on account of the district misplacing his background check file. He didn’t seem to make the connection.

The veteran educator additionally runs an entertainment company for youngsters known as Pirate Magic. The company’s website shows that Schack performs as “Captain Silly Bones” at events and magic shows. Online testimonials describe it as “wholesome” and praise his talents.

Shady Grove Principal Alana Murray wrote to neighborhood members to confirm that a worker was seen in a breakout room practicing inappropriate conduct on a digital camera. She requested students who’d recorded the incident to “refrain from sharing with other students.”

Montgomery County Police reportedly investigated and stated no charges will be filed against the teacher.
