Teacher in Florida town of Sebring arrested for sex with teen boy student
(The AEGIS Alliance) – A Sebring, Florida woman who teaches high school has been arrested for allegedly having intercourse with a male student multiple times, according to WTSP.
The Sebring High School teacher in central Florida is accused of having sex with a 15-year-old boy on numerous occasions, the Highlands County Sheriff’s Office said.
30-year-old Ariel Madden Reed is a critical-thinking teacher at Sebring High in Florida and has been slapped with 10 counts of sexual battery. She was arrested on Friday and booked into the Highlands County Jail.
Once the Special Victims Unit (SVU) launched its investigation on Wednesday, she was placed on administrative leave.
Reed started to get in hot water after a faculty resource deputy reported that a boy at the school had sexually explicit photos of her on his phone.
Authorities allege Reed sexually abused the boy in her house, car, and inside a school classroom between November 2020 and February 2021.
The ten counts against Reed are for sexual battery upon a victim of ages 12 to 18 by a teacher who has the custodial authority over that particular person, the Highland News-Sun reported.
“I want to commend the staff at Sebring High School for taking immediate action and quickly notifying the school resource deputy, as well as the Special Victims Unit for working quickly to develop this case,” Sheriff Paul Blackman said in a press release concerning the Florida teacher.
“We take any allegations involving children very seriously and are continuing to investigate,” he added.
Reed started working for the Sebring, Florida district in 2015. Before transferring to Sebring High in 2019, she taught at Avon Park Middle School. Before working at the middle school, she worked at Woodlawn Elementary School and the district office, according to Fox 13.
“We are committed to providing a safe learning environment in all Highlands County schools, so we are shocked and saddened by these allegations.
School administration and district officials are fully cooperating with the Highlands County Sheriff’s Office as they investigate this matter,” Deputy Superintendent Andrew Lethbridge said in an announcement regarding Reed.
“No further comments will be made as this is an ongoing investigation,” he added.
Reed wasn’t the only person arrested, police also handcuffed her husband on Friday. 37-year-old Jonathan Patrick Reed is charged with interfering in the execution of a search warrant, Shore News Network wrote.
