Police say Nicki Minaj’s father killed by hit-and-run driver
(The AEGIS Alliance) – MINEOLA, NEW YORK – The father of rapper Nicki Minaj has died after being struck by a hit-and-run driver in New York, police mentioned.
Robert Maraj, aged 64, was strolling along a street in Mineola on Long Island at around 6:15 p.m. on Friday when he was hit by a car that kept going, Nassau County police stated. Maraj was taken to a local medical center and was pronounced dead on Saturday.
“We just saw a jacket ripped open, cut open, trying to make sure the man had a pulse,” a witnessing neighbor mentioned.
“All I hoped for was the person to have a pulse and survive. I’m speechless. I don’t know what to say.”
Police are asking anyone who witnessed the deadly crash to please come forward.
38-year-old Minaj was born Onika Tanya Maraj in Trinidad and was raised in the New York City borough of Queens. She has not made any public statement about the death of her father.
